Mexico Sea of Cortez

Sea of Cortez

Mexico

Desert sands, exotic islands and rugged red rock formations await the sailor on the Sea of Cortez, located to the west of mainland Mexico along the Baja peninsula.  Exploring this remote area is an off-the-grid adventure, with few tourists and no tourist traps.  Warm winds and bluegreen water surround the vessel and the sea life is prolific in this area Jacques Cousteau once called, “the world’s aquarium.”

Sailing through this isolated area offers opportunities to snorkel and view the wild residents of an unspoiled part of the world.  Dolphins and whales follow the boat.  Sea birds are prolific here and include blue footed boobies, brown pelicans, frigatebirds, egrets, herons, and sandpipers.

A quick dive below the surface brings you face to face with playful sea lions, manta rays and eels.  The warm, clear water is inviting.  The sunshine on the deck is the perfect place to dry off.  While on board, taste the freshest seafood –  prawns, tuna, octopus, clams, and lobster.  Tropical fruits include mango, guava, avocados and much more.

Luxury Accommodations

Customize your vacation by choosing the sailing yacht that suits your individual needs.  A “monohull” offers an exciting “tilt with the wind” sailing experience, while a “dual hull catamaran” has more spacious common areas and a flat, smoother voyage.  Other considerations include the number and size of sleeping areas, heads (bathrooms), and amenities from sun decks to galley size.  The photos of yachts below are examples of possibilities.  There are a wide variety of floor plans, privacy considerations and budget, with sizes depending upon the number in your group, from two to eight guests plus your captain/crew/chef.
